We are excited to announce that as of June 15th, 2021, many of the previous COVID-19 related restrictions have been lifted. A few safety rules remain in place, and we will be asking you to adhere to these requirements to keep yourself, fellow clients, and our crew safe and healthy. If you are uncomfortable with any of the following, please wait until after all restrictions are lifted to submit your booking request.
Below is a summary of our current health and safety protocol. This is subject to change at any time without advance notice, in accordance with any future directives from the SF Department of Public Health. Please be prepared to follow additional precautions not listed here, as instructed by Black Serum artists or staff.
Mask policy and preventing exposure
If you are fully vaccinated, you may choose whether or not you would like to wear a mask while in our shop. Please keep in mind that the CDC is currently strongly recommending that all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask indoors at all times.
If you plan to be unmasked, please be prepared to show your vaccination card or a photo of your vaccination card, with your last dose dated at least 14 days ago.
I am fully vaccinated, though I will continue wearing a mask throughout our appointment
If you are not yet fully vaccinated, you will be required to wear a proper face mask
at all times, including when waiting outside for your appointment to begin
Entry to Black Serum
I prefer to work one-on-one so that we can focus the experience on you, so it's best to attend your appointment alone. If you would like to bring a guest for moral support and input, they may participate in the sizing and placement decision with your consent. Once we start tattooing, however, we will ask for your guest to wait in the lobby (if space allows) or visit our neighboring businesses.
Arrive for your appointment just a few minutes early or on time and be prepared to wait outside of Black Serum
We keep the door locked because we are by appointment only, so please ring the doorbell for entry
Over 2500 square feet of interior space with 16-foot high ceilings and an HVAC system with filtration, along with medical-grade air purifying systems
Tattooing stations have medical dividers and are at least 6 feet apart from one another
There is ample space outside of Black Serum, including a parklet, for clients to wait for appointments to begin. The indoor waiting area is also available but space is limited.
Filtered water is available and you may bring your own drinking container
Artists and staff are certified in bloodborne pathogen training and have taken additional COVID-19 safety training. We continue to adhere to the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with San Francisco County Health Department regulations.
