about

A woman with colorful hair, tattoos on her arms and chest, standing in a room decorated with art prints, wall hangings, and plants, with soft lavender walls and a ceiling light projecting colorful patterns.

Anita Darkling (she/her/they) -

I've been living in San Francisco since 2003, when I moved here to pursue a career in art. I earned my BFA at the Academy of Art University, specializing in photorealistic oil painting.

I completed my tattoo apprenticeship at a well-known shop in the Mission and became a full-time tattoo artist in 2018. I worked at that tattoo shop for over 5 years before opening my own private studio in March of 2023. After 3+ years of working in that space, I joined the talented team of artists at Mythrium.

I specialize in detailed fineline and single-needle black ink tattoos, with a focus on the mysterious and mystical side of nature. I work in a minimal realism style, using concise organic linework and light shading to capture the essence of my subject matter in a unique hand-drawn style.

location -

I work at Mythrium, an appointment-only tattoo studio located at 1967 Sutter St. The studio is secure and accessible, and conveniently located near several Muni bus line stops.

If you have an appointment scheduled, you will be provided with a phone number to text when you arrive. Please note that we probably will not be able to hear knocking at the door.

Unmetered street parking is limited around the studio. Many areas also have residential parking restrictions, so please check signage. There may be unmetered parking available without residential restrictions on the west side of Webster between Geary & Eddy and the east side of Steiner between O’Farrell and Golden Gate. Paid parking is available at the Japan Center garage. I do not recommend parking in a metered spot.
